Webinar: Torque Ergonomics

Date: Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020: 2:00 - 2:30 PM EST

Welcome to the Torque Ergonomics webinar hosted by Atlas Copco.

Presenting this webinar is Matt Crowley, a Product Specialist here at Atlas Copco. In this webinar, we'll be exploring in-depth the topic of ergonomics in tightening. In any workplace, ergonomics plays a key role in the overall well-being of employees. Matt explains the very basics of ergonomics and zeroes in on its significance in tightening applications. Important vocabulary such as inertia and reaction force are introduced and explained.

During the webinar, viewers will also learn the influencing factors behind strong torque ergonomics. He focuses on three influencing factors in particular: your workstation, your operators and their demographics, and the power tools being used in that specific application. It’s also important, Matt explains, to remember that all humans have limits, and there are painful consequences when torque ergonomics and human limits are ignored.

In the final section of the webinar, Matt covers the eventual impacts of uncontrolled torque and vibration to the body, and reviews solutions to managing torque reaction for operators to prevent injuries. Torque reaction and vibration that is not controlled by a device can lead to a handful of vascular disorders, nerve injuries, and musculoskeletal disorders. These ailments are permanent. In order to keep operators on the line safe and comfortable, devices such as torque arms, reaction bars, and Low Reaction Tools must be used.
