Atlas Copco Gas and Process is seeking a Design Automation Engineer to reside in either Voorheesville, New York, Cologne, Germany, Santa Maria, California, Pune, India, or the possibility of working remotely. The primary objectives of this position include:

Work with a global team of experts focused on developing next generation design automation software built on top of the latest Computer-Aided Technologies (CAx). Utilize multidisciplinary experience from mechanical/aerodynamic engineering, Knowledge-Based Engineering (KBE), and Software Engineering to formally capture knowledge for reuse in design automation software applications.

  • Work as a team to conceptualize, develop, and deploy design methods in form of engineering and design automation software
  • Develop robust intelligent parametric components of larger software solutions with the intent of automating the engineering and design of high tech Engineered-to-Order products
  • Work as part of an agile engineering and design automation software development team
  • Programmatically represent complex mathematical models encapsulating engineering knowledge and rules
  • Capture, and formalize, engineering knowledge as normalized data for consumption in software applications
  • Work with stakeholders to gather project requirements, gather and refine product rules, and create prototype solutions for preliminary review for clarity prior to formal software development
  • Reverse engineer existing designs to capture methods for encapsulation in design automation software
  • Continuously advance specialized knowledge through engagement with external communities of experts/3rd parties and training

What we expect of you? 

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in CAx Design Automation, KBE, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial, aerospace, automotive, heavy equipment, or Turbomachinery industries
  • Design Automation software solutions are diverse making many of the following, or equivalent, a plus:
    • Expert in parametric and product/component modeling technologies for automation
      • PTC / Creo parameter/relations-based modeling, Dassault Systems SolidWorks equation-based modeling, or equivalent CAx software parametric engine
      • Complex freeform modeling
      • Interpart modeling
      • System Level Design (i.e. Top Down Design)
    • Familiarity and appreciation for programming technologies
      •  Microsoft.NET (C#, VB.NET, C++), Java, Python, MS VBA, Spreadsheet programming, or equivalent programming language experience
      • PTC Creo APIs, Dassault Systems SolidWorks APIs, or equivalent CAx API development experience
      • Relational database (Access, MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc) and SQL Experience
    • Familiarity and appreciation for user interface technologies
    • WPF.NET, Winforms, CAx UI authoring tools (i.e. PTC Creo UI Editor)
