How to restart your dewatering pumps after inactivity?

Check out these steps in our service checklist to start up your dewatering pumps smoothly and safely

Our dewatering pumps are built to last. Even when they’re not being used. These machines are perfectly capable of coping with periods of inactivity. Nevertheless, to make sure your pumps can start up smoothly and efficiently, check out this maintenance checklist to easily run through all steps of a successful restart:

  1. Measure the condition of coolant with your refractometer tool and PH meter and top up with coolant if needed.
  2. Replace the engine oil and oil or fuel filters.
  3. Perform a visual check of the air filters and clogging indicator – replace filters if needed.
  4. Dust clean or jet wash the radiator/intercooler.
  5. Drain or clean the fuel tank water and sediments.
  6. Perform a visual check of the electrical cables and harness for damages or loose ends.
  7. Check the condition of your hoses and clamps for leakages or possible aging.
  8. Check the battery electrolyte level as well as voltage.
  9. Inspect and grease and/or clean the battery terminals (with Vaseline) if needed.
  10. Check the oil level (vacuum pump, mechanical seal). Top up or refill if necessary.
  11. Check wear parts and adjust the impeller if needed.
  12. Inspect the fan belt as well as the vacuum pump belt and adjust if needed.
  13. Check the tightening of critical connections.
  14. Flush the volute if that wasn’t done at the last stop.
  15. Check the condition and the functioning of the float switch – if applicable.
  16. Perform a visual check of your wheels, the tire pressure, and test the brake system.
  17. Test the emergency stop.
