Containerized compressor rooms for the resource industry: Only the best will do

No industry understands the value of containerized compressor rooms better than the resource sector. Companies operating mines in the Australian Outback, oil rigs in the Russian tundra or logging camps in a South American jungle need a reliable supply of compressed air, but don’t have the option of building a traditional indoor compressor room.

Containerized compressor rooms simply are the only way to keep resource industry operations running. And for these remote job sites, containerized compressors are the perfect solution.

  • They can be shipped just about anywhere.
  • Instead of having to set up an intricate compressor room, the containers just have to be plugged in and are ready to go.
  • They can be moved from work site to work site with relative ease.

However, there are huge differences in quality and reliability between different manufacturers – and quality and reliability matter more in these remote locations than elsewhere.

Atlas Copco – Trusted partner of the resource industry

In the resource industry, a unique mix of extreme conditions and challenging logistics creates a fine line between operational success and financial failure. Atlas Copco helps companies stay on the right side of that line. With the AIRCUBE, Atlas Copco offers a modular solution that allows businesses to put together a containerized compressor room that meets their particular needs. To understand why this modular system is so valuable, let’s take a closer look at the challenges the industry faces every day and how AIRCUBE containerized compressor rooms from Atlas Copco address them.

Tough conditions demand tough equipment

The resource sector generally operates in some of the most inaccessible and inhospitable places on earth. These exceptional circumstances pose unique challenges for all pieces of equipment. Any tools used in the resource sector have to be able to withstand extremely harsh conditions. In particular, this applies to containerized compressor rooms, which have to keep the other equipment running. Because you may be able to overcome a malfunctioning drill, but if your compressor fails, the entire operation comes to a halt. That is why the AIRCUBE is designed to withstand the toughest environmental conditions. The containerized compressor room, which is housed in a 20-foot or 40-foot ISO sea container, can function reliably in temperatures from 0°C to 45°C. As an option, it can also be outfitted to operate in extreme cold of up to -40°C. Upon demand, AIRCUBE could also be customized for further extreme cold temperature of up to -50°C or high ambient temperatures of upto 50°C.

Reliability matters most in remote locations

The quality of the contents of the container is at least as important as its sturdy exterior. To accommodate their individual requirements, Atlas Copco customers assemble their own AIRCUBE by choosing from a wide range of compressors and other compressed air equipment. All of these components are part of Atlas Copco’s product portfolio, which means they are CE-certified and have been thoroughly tested.

That not only allows us to build an AIRCUBE quickly, it also makes it the perfect plug-and-play solution. In addition, because all of the equipment comes from a single, trusted source, it increases the dependability of the AIRCUBE even further.

And that is especially important for remote worksites where it may take days to get a spare part and downtime costs grow exponentially.

The importance of air quality

That is also why the quality of the air a containerized compressor room generates is crucial. Higher quality air means that all downstream equipment is better protected and will last longer. That is the reason why the AIRCUBE offers a range of air quality options, including dryers and filters.

Smart add-ons

After selecting the Atlas Copco products they want us to install in their AIRCUBE, customers can also pick from a wide range of additional options to further tailor their containerized compressor room to their needs.

The containers already come with standard features, such as ventilation, internal power distribution, CE certification and lighting, but, upon request, we will add others, including a fire alert, special filtration (UD/QDT)or EQ controls.

The result is a containerized compressor room tailored to customers’ specific needs from one of the resource industry’s most trusted partners.

So, if you are looking for a containerized compressor you can always count on, get in touch with us and let us tackle your challenges together with an AIRCUBE.
