Manchester-based Concept Metal Products offers some of the largest laser cutting and sheet metal folding capacities in the UK.
As assist gases, oxygen and nitrogen work in opposite ways. The thicker the material, the less oxygen is needed to cut it. The thicker the material, the more nitrogen is required. Another assist gas is compressed air, which is much faster and cost effecitve for laser cutting.
Below are some example cutting times for nitrogen and compressed air:

A clean laser stream is vital for the laser cutting process to prevent any irregularities or jaggedness to the cut. To prevent any contamination to the laser, nitrogen purges the tube that the beam travels through. This also pushes out oxygen and any contaminates in the air that would otherwise affect the laser.
Compressed Air is always required in the laser cutting process– for the cutting machine, extraction and automation. It can also be used for the actual cutting.
Whether you need to control or reduce the temperature of your finished laser cut products, keep your equipment running at the optimum temperature, or control the temperature of your plant, our TCX chillers are specially designed for cooling for a wide range of industrial processes.
With our new range of nitrogen generators, you can make your own nitrogen any time you need and at a reduced cost and footprint.
