Artistic Milliners opts for an energy efficient ZS screw blower
Artistic Milliners, a leading textile manufacturer and exporter of denim in Pakistan, has chosen Atlas Copco ZS screw blowers for their wastewater treatment process to help reduce their total cost of ownership. We asked Mr. Tallat Mehmood Qureshi, Senior Manager Utilities, Artistic Milliners Pvt. Ltd to tell us more on his experience with our product and why they choose Atlas Copco.
Can you tell us a bit more about Artistic Milliners?

What challenges were you facing and how did you solve them?
"Denim manufacturing, including dyeing, finishing, and washing, requires an enormous amount of water. So, for recycling purposes and discharging water into an effluent, it must be purified by removing toxic gases from a biological process to have a safe environment.
This biological process typically utilizes up to 70% of the energy consumed on-site. Our existing belt-driven blowers were causing issues, like high power consumption and operational issues. It also involved frequent maintenance costs and because of that, our functional cost was increasing which was not an efficient solution."
Why did you choose Atlas Copco?
"We decided to replace one lobe blower with the Atlas Copco ZS 4 screw blower technology. On completion of the installation of the new ZS 4 blower, we carried out a comparison performance test between the existing lobe blowers and Atlas Copco’s ZS 4 technology. It revealed that the existing lobe blower used approximately 35% more power for the same output.
They proposed to us the ZS 4 blower which comes in a fully integrated package, including a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) that precisely matched the air delivery to our air demand, reducing the energy bill of our continuously operating plants significantly."
We carried out a performance test. Compared to the ZS 4 screw blowers, the existing lobe blowers used approximately 35% more power for the same output.
How have you benefited from using our products and services?
"Because of ZS 4 VSD, the aeration blower energy cost was reduced by 35%. Along with that, we had very little downtime and low maintenance cost. A big step forward compared to our previous installation. The innovative screw blower technology offered us 22% more air flow, an exact match with our expectations. Its latest element design was 35% more efficient than the belt-driven (lobe) blowers we had installed earlier. After the installation, we analyzed that we were able to save €13,230 in terms of electricity cost per Annum. Uninterrupted operation is the dream of any Service Manager. The ZS 4 blower has met our expectations and fulfilled our demand as required."
