Electricity that is available at the convenience of push button involves the complex and challenging world of power generation, transmission and distribution by power sector.
This power sector which always contributed in country’s development and now they are standing tall in current covid-19 situation by ensuring uninterrupted electric supply to hospitals and other essential manufacturing units and services.
The continuous supply of electricity to the plant ensures that the essential utilities at the plant continue to work with its full efficiency to avoid any losses and downtime. One such utility in any manufacturing unit is air compressor which generates compressed air for various applications in the plant. Since this is one of the critical utility, hence it is important that air compressor parameters should be monitored on daily basis with recommended maintenance schedule.
In a normal time, a person does the monitoring of compressor parameters. But during the current unprecedent situation where most of the sectors are working with limited workforce by following social distancing at the plant, the monitoring activity becomes quite challenging.
As most of us are now working from home with the help of digital tools and techniques, it is also imperative for the utilities that they can be controlled or monitored from remote locations.
The objective of such smart monitoring is to identify and solve performance or efficiency issues before they evolve into a full-scale equipment failure. In addition to supporting preventative maintenance, this will help plant managers to optimise productivity and keep running costs down.
Atlas Copco who is committed to serve the customers as a chosen solution provider; has the innovative technology – SMARTlink to address this challenge and support the customers.
The SMARTLINK enables remote monitoring of compressors by capturing live data from the compressed air equipment and translates it in clear insights so that maintenance team can check machine health remotely at anytime and anywhere. Accessibility of the system is given to customer users to get the notifications, warning & shutdown for installed machines & can also check the data by logging into web portal. To provide more robust support to our esteemed customers, Atlas Copco has set-up the state of art monitoring room wherein air compressors and dryers are round the clock monitored to give proactive support to customers by sharing information on warnings and service interventions.
Atlas Copco understand the gravity of the situation and supporting all their customers specially those who are at frontline in the fight against coronavirus. With the help of Smartlink, our compressors installed at essential industries are now monitored very closely to avoid any abrupt breakdown/shutdown in the plant. During such exercise, our technical team found severe warning from the compressor of one our customer. This warning may result in rupture of air filter and machine tripping. Our team acted swiftly and immediately contacted the customer. They inform the criticality of the warnings and guide them to take necessary action on the air compressor to resolve the issue over call.
The remote monitoring of the compressors become boon to our customer and thus it saves the plant from unwarranted production losses.
We are doing our bit to society by helping all our essential segments customers by proactively troubleshooting the compressors based on Smartlink data, thus keeping the uptime of the machines for uninterrupted production or power supply in this pandemic situation of our country.
