Atlas Copco’s Custom Tool Solutions (CTS) is a new product line within our Total Workstation product portfolio that consists of five different custom tool attachments.

Meet CTS from Atlas Copco

Atlas Copco’s Custom Tool Solutions (CTS) is a new product line within our Total Workstation product portfolio that consists of five different custom tool attachments. CTS attachments can be secured onto a wide variety of our cabled and wireless assembly tools, and they integrate seamlessly with the Power Focus 6000 controller.

Within the Custom Tool Solutions product line are five custom tool attachments: The Crimp On Flange attachment, the Tab Bender attachment, the Rivnut/Rivstud attachments, the Dual Head attachment, and the MultiStarter attachment.

The Crimp On Flange (COF) attachment

Custom Tool Solutions
The Crimp On Flange (COF) attachment addresses issues relating to the high repair rates and warranty costs of non-crimped weather strips. When used as a weather strip installation tool, this product accounts for a decrease in scrap and warranty costs, and a boost in ergonomics and quality control.

The application uses Door, hatch, and trunk openings.

The Tab Bender (TBA) attachment

Custom Tool Solutions
The Tab Bender attachment (TBA) was developed to prevent the common (and costly) operator injuries that are often a result of manual, repetitive arm/shoulder motions during production. In addition, the TBA reduces the rates of improper or missed tab bending, therefore also reducing repair and warranty costs.

The application uses: Transmission case bolts, bolt retention.

The Rivnut/Rivstud attachments

Custom Tool Solutions
The Rivnut and Rivstud attachments were developed to assist in inserting and securing threaded inserts during production. These attachments address issues regarding a lack of data collection and joint/process validations within current tooling options. Rivnut/Rivstud attachments provide efficient process validations and improve workplace ergonomics.

The application uses: Threaded insert installations.

The Dual Head attachment

The application uses: Automated assembly stations, seat backs, IP components, engine dress items.

Custom Tool Solutions
The Dual Head attachment serves as a dual square drive output for two sockets or two Psets. This product optimizes the efficiency of station processes, as the attachment is an effective use of tooling and workspace. The Dual Head attachment validates sockets and Psets by tool orientation, offering better quality control and a 50% reduction in cycle time!

The MultiStarter attachment

The MultiStarter attachment lowers safety costs by emphasizing finger and wrist health in operators and increases process speed during production by reducing cycle time and providing speed adjustments. Additionally, the MultiStarter attachment allows for the simultaneous tightening of multiple zero-torque fasteners, increasing production throughput and workplace productivity.

The application uses: Pre-assembly processes.
