Benefits and values of Atlas Copco’s Integrated Controller tools

4 minute(s) to read

Atlas Copco’s next generation integrated controller tool family, the Tensor IxB, consists of two brand-new battery tool options: The Tensor ITB and the Tensor ICB.

* Join us on May 17th at 10 AM ET for a live ‘Tensor ITB / ICB’ Q&A with product expert Rodney Hill! In this live Q&A, Rodney will be taking questions about the all-new Tensor ITB/ICB integrated controller tools in real-time. Register here to save your spot! *

The Tensor IxB tool family feature a built-in controller with functionalities integrated directly into the tool. Combining wireless freedom, Smart manufacturing, and increased accessibility on the line, the Atlas Copco Tensor IxB integrated controller tools are scalable solutions for a wide variety of applications.

Save on costs and reduce your infrastructure footprint

On traditional production lines, there is usually one physical controller per station. On top of that, stations often require cables that supply power (among other things, such as ethernet or Fieldbus capabilities). What’s more, manufacturing plants often have multiple stations, each requiring their own controller and cables. As you can see, this is a significant, expensive investment that many of us have had no other choice but to accept as the norm.

We’re here to tell you that there’s now a better, more cost-efficient way for assembly line balancing. The Tensor IxB tool family are cordless, direct drive nutrunners with advanced features and tightening torque controller software integrated right into the tool. Because you no longer need a physical controller (or the related costly components) per station, you can expect substantial cost savings, along with a smaller, more optimized manufacturing plant layout design.

Intelligent, reliable, and interconnected

If we’re going to ditch the need for a separate, physical controller, it’s of the utmost importance that the Atlas Copco integrated controller tools are reliable. This wireless reliability is ensured through a new dual antenna radio on the tools, enabling Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities. In addition, an advanced wireless diagnostics software is integrated directly into the tool, allowing for user friendly Wi-Fi troubleshooting.

The Tensor IxB tool family have IAM cards that store a backup of your data, along with all programming preferences (Psets, batches, etc.). Swapping IAM cards between tools is a quick and easy process. Because the integrated controller tools share commonality with the PF6000, you can run familiar Smart factory software solutions (such as Atlas Copco’s ToolsTalk 2ToolsNet 8 or SQS) with the tool.

Further, The Tensor IxB tool family integrate quite well with a wide range of our wireless assembly tool accessories, such as wireless socket selectors. The tools also support Open Protocol, providing users with a rich protocol for their production systems.

Unmatched accessibility on the line

The Tensor ITB/ICB, part of the Tensor IxB tool family, are wireless, lightweight, and compact. The Tensor ITB is the larger integrated controller tool option, while the ICB is the smaller, more flexible option. Both tools have excellent power-to-weight ratios, allowing for access to narrow or cramped spots on the assembly line. The Tensor ICB has two unique form features. Its angle head is able to rotate 360 degrees around, and there are up to 18 different locking positions to choose from. The ICB’s trigger is also rotatable 360 degrees around the tool and can be set to one of 20 locking positions. The possibilities for this tool are seemingly endless.
