Bring your productivity, quality, and ergonomics to the next level with Atlas Copco torque arms

The added benefits of using torque reaction arms in production

6 minute(s) to read

Articulated torque arms are a great addition on assembly lines and in manufacturing workstations. In addition to being ergonomically designed, they will also aid in many error proofing systems such as our Industrial Location Guidance (ILG) solution, both of which can be sourced from Atlas Copco. Bring your productivity, quality, and ergonomics to the next level with workstation solutions from Atlas Copco.

Torque reaction arms are made to assist in torque-related applications and to guide operators (and ILG) in tightening techniques and job specifications. It is for these reasons that you can trust that operators will be safe and comfortable while using torque arms and that the occurrence of defects and errors will be greatly reduced. This allows for more time spent working on the line. Continue reading to learn more about torque arm applications and how they can benefit you.

ILG and operator

Visual operator guidance

Industrial Location Guidance is one of Atlas Copco’s industrial location solutions. Our industrial location solutions have many benefits in workstations, but ILG in particular works with an articulated torque arm to effectively guide the operator through the proper bolt sequencing technique. This is accomplished with the assistance of the torque arm, which allows our Industrial Location Guidance software to track the tool’s exact location relative to the fastening position, error proofing the production process.

By using torque reaction arms and ILG together, additional quality assurance processes will be reduced because operators will have consistent product quality through process security. This provides confidence that regardless of the operator, each product is done with acute accuracy. This feature saves time and allows for it to be spent in more productive ways.

Superior ergonomics

Torque arms are ergonomically designed with operators in mind. They are made to eliminate an operator’s exposure to risks that could affect their health and safety. When operators need to use heavy or high reaction force tools, they will take some of the strain off the user. This is achieved when the torque arm holds the tool, elevating the weight of the tool off the operator and absorbing the reaction force exhibited by the tool.

Overtime, such hazards could negatively affect operators’ health; however, by using an articulated torque arm, operators are less exposed to those harmful risks, which ultimately reduces the overall medical costs for employees and companies.

To sum it up

Operator health is very important, which is why articulated torque arms are ergonomically designed with operators in mind. In this way, our solutions will reduce the overall medical costs associated with debilitating musculoskeletal disorders caused by long term exposure to high torque applications. In addition to protecting operators from potential daily risks, torque arms will also deliver higher productivity and quality assurance when pairing them with our Industrial Location Guidance platform. Regardless of operator, you can count on an error proofing solution like ILG to improve quality in the production process.
