The Tensor ITB integrated assembly tool

What is the Tensor ITB? It’s Atlas Copco’s Angle Cordless torque tool, offering faster tightening speeds and improved wireless signal strength. This tool has advanced features and controller software integrated right into the tool. This meant that the whole solution was completely wireless and required no infrastructure or cabling.

The Tensor ITB features an Integrated Controller option. Using the Integrated Controller on this application, the customer was able to build a station error-proofing system with minimal hardware using the Access Point on the ITB. The ITB, a socket selector, and our SQS software were required to step up their advanced production, which is a great way to implement Industry 4.0 tech with minimal hardware.

Now that we’ve discussed the Tensor ITB, let’s explain what exactly the wireless Selector 6 socket and bit selector is. This solution works with the ITB and SQS to bring your facility into the future of industry 4.0 by bringing your production quality to the next level through process security. That’s because it recognizes the socket or bit being used by the operator and guides them through the tightening process. Not only will the Selector 6 improve your productivity, but it will help you to achieve zero defects on the line.

The last solution included in their new tool ensemble is SQS: Atlas Copco’s error-proofing software solution that drives quality, process reliability, and transparency, as well as product quality. When using this software in conjunction with the Tensor ITB and socket selector, you can expect an improvement in productivity and quality.

Our customer was experiencing a bottleneck station due to checking threads on the axel assembly, ensuring that they were clean and correctly sized. This was all done manually, so the speed of the process was an issue. In order to speed up production, they needed a fast and reliable solution to streamline their assembly processes. That’s where our Tensor ITB paired with a wireless socket selector and SQS came into the picture.

In the end, our solution triumphed over the competition’s proposed solution due to its wireless capabilities and our ability to provide the whole solution.
