The QMT MicroTorque tool: Ramp up production efficiency, cut quality costs

The all-new QMT MicroTorque tool from Atlas Copco is a fixtured, transducerized screwdriver for low torque applications.

Providing comprehensive data collection capabilities, full traceability, and excellent accuracy, the QMT is an incredibly intelligent tool that takes MicroTorque tightening to an entirely new level.

The power of a built-in transducer

The QMT MicroTorque tool features a built-in transducer. A closed feedback loop between this transducer and the MicroTorque Focus 6000 controller (MTF6000) allows for unbeatable accuracy, ensuring that true torque values applied on every screw are continuously sent to the controller from the tool. 

The QMT also allows for current monitoring, which provides extra security as it closely monitors the tightening torque during production. The high-level precision of this tool provides extremely reliable tightening results, enhancing production efficiency and process visibility.

Extensive data reporting and detailed graphical analyses

When used in conjunction with Atlas Copco’s powerful data collection software, ToolsNet 8, raw data is converted into critical and valuable information displayed through real-time tightening graphs. These graph analyses drive continuous production optimization as they guide your decisions with accurate and detailed tightening information.

By offering crucial information not only about the individual tightening but about the entire assembly process, you can expect a ramp up in your production efficiency and a significant drop in defects and cycle times, along with rework and scrap costs.

Reliable error-proofing for full process control

The QMT MicroTorque tool and the MTF6000 work together to identify and eliminate any and all tightening issues that may occur during production, such as floating screws, stripped joints, and insufficient torques. This is made possible through two different advanced tightening strategies available through the MTF6000: Torque Seating Monitoring and Seating Control Strategy.

Though different in a few ways, both of these advanced tightening strategies detect the seating point of a tightening in order to secure a sufficient clamping torque every single time. It doesn’t end there, though. Further error-proofing methods, such as batch sequence or the multi-step tightening strategy, provide full control of the tightening process and major cost reductions.
