When an automotive company came to Atlas Copco wanting to take a proactive approach to tool management, maintenance, and ensuring high-quality production, we saw a clear solution that fit their needs: a ToolCover uptime contract and the implementation of Alture: Optimize. What is ToolCover?
ToolCover is a support and maintenance contract (which is split into three different packages to choose from) that optimizes your production and quality. The packages range from baseline to premium protection and build off the previous protection plan(s).

- ToolCover Stability: All the benefits of ToolCover Protect, plus repairs and spare parts
- ToolCover Uptime: All the benefits of ToolCover Protect and ToolCover Stability, plus on-sight support and tool management
What is Alture: Optimize?
Data collection provides information about tightening processes to prevent interruptions later in production. Alture: Optimize is a data-driven service solution that offers real-time feedback when quality is at risk and production concerns emerge. With Alture, users can expect:
- Real-time notifications
- Instant tightening error trends
- Notifications on potential process issues
- Instant recommendations
With these features, Alture can provide users with improved quality, increased production uptime, increased productivity, reduced costs, increased speed, and simplicity of information, keeping users in the know as soon as a process issue arises.
The situation
Our customer was working to reach full production and expand current and new locations. The company wanted to be proactive in the optimization of their production process. If they were able to keep tabs on the condition of their tools and receive real-time tightening data, they would be able to reduce or eliminate the occurrence of unexpected line interruptions, quality defects, and reduced equipment lifetimes.
The solution
For us, the solution was clear. To prevent the unexpected halts in production, our customer would need a ToolCover Uptime service level agreement and Alture: Optimize to provide real-time, data-driven feedback. This would reduce maintenance and repair time, thus optimizing the tool performance and increasing uptime, as well as alerting operators to flaws or inconsistencies in tightening data. This would allow them to recognize and correct an issue right when it occurs.
The agreement included:
- Six full-time, on-site personnel – (1) Site Manager and (5) Site Technicians
- Optimized preventive maintenance schedule and calibrations for assembly tools along with proactive and reactive line calls
- Alture: Optimize and TechCover ToolsNet to provide proactive maintenance and cost savings through increased productivity and quality
- Live KPI dashboard
- Quarterly KPI and cost savings reviews to provide transparency on compliance to the agreement
