Expert Live Q&A: Pneumatic Drills

3 minute(s) to read

Welcome to the ‘Drills’ question and answer session. Taking viewer questions in this Q&A is Adam Brooks, our Product Marketing Manager for Atlas Copco drills. In this Q&A, Adam takes on the topic of drills, both pneumatic and battery powered. Atlas Copco has a comprehensive range of handheld drills offered in multiple types of models, such as inline, angle, modular, pistol grip, and more.

In response to a question about the differences between pistol grip and inline drill models, Adam explains that pistol drills are shaped like pistols. They’re designed to drill in horizontal positions and have excellent operator ergonomics. Inline drills are primarily used for vertical drilling applications and are ideal for cramped or narrow spaces where a pistol grip drill cannot fit.

When asked about the benefits of Atlas Copco’s modular drills, Adam explains that they are extremely versatile and allow for quick head attachment changes so that operators can change angles and positions. Adam then goes into add-on accessories for dust/debris reduction, explaining that Atlas Copco offers a spot suction attachment. More information on add-on accessories can be found in our drilling catalog, which can be requested by emailing acta.inquiries@us.atlascopco.com.

A question is then asked about lubrication. Adam explains that nearly every Atlas Copco drill is lubrication-free. However, lubrication can still be used, as lubrication cleans the air and allows for better drill performance. We then move into the topic of battery powered drills offered by Atlas Copco. The EBB26 is a battery powered drill that will be available in the coming months.

Following this, Adam is asked about how Atlas Copco’s drills compare to competitor drills. Adam explains that our drills have a primary focus on operator safety and ergonomics and provide lower noise and vibration levels. In addition, our drills have the best power-to-weight ratio on the market; they’re light but extremely powerful.
