Tensor IxB family of tools with integrated controllers: Optional eHMI

4 minute(s) to read

Atlas Copco’s newest tool family is the Tensor IxB integrated controller tools. Consisting of two wireless nutrunners, the Tensor ITB and Tensor ICB, the Tensor IxB family of tools feature advanced tightening controllers integrated directly into the tool itself. Gone are the days of separate, bulky controllers in each workstation.

Optional for both the Tensor ITB and Tensor ICB integrated controller tools is a colored eHMI display that will take your production processes to entirely new levels. Read on to learn more about the values of the optional eHMI display on the Tensor IxB family of tools with integrated controllers!

But first, the basics

Enabling flexible rebalancing on the line, ease of integration, and access to hard-to-reach places in production, the Tensor IxB integrated controller tools are ideal solutions for a wide variety of applications. As stated above, Atlas Copco’s Tensor IxB family of tools with integrated controllers include the Tensor ICB (smaller, more compact) and the Tensor ITB (larger). Though both tools offer most of the same impressive values, differences lie in the size of the two tools and the placement of the optional eHMI display.

Because the Tensor ICB integrated controller tool is smaller and shorter than the Tensor ITB integrated controller tool, the eHMI display is built into the foot of the tool, allowing for better joint accessibility. The Tensor ITB integrated controller tool, on the other hand, is longer and a bit larger. On the Tensor ITB, the optional eHMI display is built into the back of the tool.

The optional eHMI on the Tensor IxB family of integrated controller tools enables:

1. Clear, direct operator feedback in real-time

With an eHMI in place on both the Tensor ITB and Tensor ICB integrated controller tools, operators are guided through the tightening sequence with valuable, easy to use build information provided in real-time. As an operator moves through a selected tightening sequence, the eHMI guides the operator with OK/NOK signals. It goes further than that, however.

Should an NOK result appear on the screen of an eHMI while using a Tensor ITB and Tensor ICB integrated controller tool, operators are given detailed information as to why the tightening was completed incorrectly. Additionally, the eHMI offers operators an in-depth look at results, torque and angle values, and various rework options (batch decrements, aborts, etc.).

2. Easy and intuitive navigation

The optional eHMI feature on the Tensor IxB family of integrated controller tools is built to be easy for operators to use and learn. Allowing for simple, intuitive navigation, operators can easily move through a variety of menus, including a tightening menu where programs and sequences are stored and controlled, a tool menu with detailed tool information, a general information menu for eHMI details, and a network menu with in-depth Wi-Fi information.

3. Detailed network information

The eHMI display on a Tensor IxB integrated controller tool also enables advanced wireless diagnostics, along with detailed network information provided in the network menu. Through this menu, operators are shown an in-depth rundown of virtually anything a user might need to know about their Wi-Fi network, including the radio type, current configuration mode, IP address, and more.

Further, this menu also comes equipped with a ‘Signal Strength History’ feature that displays a graph of your wireless coverage. This provides operators with the real-time wi-fi signal strength, allowing them to adjust the tool or network when necessary.
